Wild Movie & Book Review

wild 2

Hi Guys!

A little while ago I picked up a book called ‘Wild’ & posted about it here.  I loved the title & the ‘from lost to found’ drew me in immediately. It is about a lady called Cheryl Strayed who is also the author. It follows her journey after she loses her Mother to Cancer very suddenly & also gets divorced. She decided to take a long-distance hike across the Pacific Crest Trail to ‘find herself’. I totally adored the book, the story is so beautiful, heart breaking & inspirational. A few weeks ago I finally bought the movie featuring Reese Witherspoon.

I have to say, like in most cases, the movie is not as good as the book. I thought it failed to make the viewer empathise with Cheryl. I also thought it didn’t show the true hardship & incredible pain she went through walking the trail. Reese Witherspoon did give a wonderful performance in the movie but I just didn’t enjoy it as much as the book.

One of the things I did love about the movie was the soundtrack. It included a song by Simon & Garfunkel called ‘El Condor Pasa (If I Could)’. What a beautiful song, I had never heard it before watching this movie but I just love the lyrics.

I would like to leave you with the beautiful lyrics…. & if you have never heard the song before, please give it a listen.

El Condor Pasa (If I Could) by Simon & Garfunkel

I’d rather be a sparrow than a snail
Yes I would, if I could, I surely would
I’d rather be a hammer than a nail
Yes I would, if I only could, I surely would

Away, I’d rather sail away
Like a swan that’s here and gone
A man gets tied up to the ground
He gives the world it’s saddest sound
Its saddest sound

I’d rather be a forest than a street
Yes I would, if I could, I surely would
I’d rather feel the earth beneath my feet
Yes I would, if I only could, I surely would

Peace, love & light….. Kate x
