Confessions of a Shopoholic Tag

Hello my lovelies! A couple of days ago I was tagged in a ‘Confessions of a Shopoholic’ post by the lovely Emily from Emulehparker. Check out her wonderful blog – it’s a must!

Basically, you answer the questions & then tag other people who you think may want to join in the fun!

Here goes!

Would you consider yourself a shopoholic?

Yes, without a shadow of a doubt. I really can’t help myself & usually end up spending more than I can afford on clothes, shoes etc. Lately, however, I have been a really good girl & I have saved a lot of my money. I have also learned the art of thrifting!

How would you classify your style?

I try to keep my style quite unique & true to myself & personality. I like to be different from others & I try to dress in a way that reflects that. I love the boho/hippy/free spirit look. Bright colours, crochet, tie dye & maxi dresses are totally my thing! My style has definitely evolved a lot over the past 2 years. I feel like I have found ‘my style’ & now I intend to stick to it! I don’t always ‘follow’ the latest trends but I usually pick out certain pieces of the latest trends & incorporate them into my own style. That way you can still look fashionable but without blending in with the crowd.

What store can you not leave without buying something from?

This is quite tough, but I would say H&M. I am the queen of H&M! I remember them opening the store near where I live & I have practically lived in it since. Their clothing is always quite unique, good quality & reasonable prices. Most of my wardrobe is made up of H&M clothing – yes, I am obsessed with the place!

Where do you find your best deals?

Again, I am going to go with H&M. I always find awesome stuff at really brilliant prices. I also love eBay, great for finding uniques pieces & I love the thrill of bidding against other people. I have had many amazing buys from eBay – my latest one being a River Island Maxi Dress for only £6.00! I have also just discovered thrifting & so far I have picked up some really cute things at cheap prices. ASOS is pretty cool too for finding pieces you wouldn’t usually get on the high street & their prices ain’t half bad!  Finally, Vintage Fairs. I love them! At my most recent visit to a fair I bought a stunning maxi dress for only £5.00 – shopping heaven!

What designer are you willing to splurge on?

Well, being on a budget means I can’t opt for the big brands such as Balenciaga, Chanel & Christian Louboutin as much as I would love too! Instead, I tend to stick to the free-spirited designers that reflect my style. I love Free People & I wish I could buy everything that they sell – not kidding. I own a couple of pieces from them & they are just wonderful & suit my style impeccably. I also love Wildfox, everything they create is so fresh & fun. I bought a maxi dress last year & I can’t wait to wear it this Summer.

Do you have a go-to shopping outfit?

No. I don’t. I like to wear whatever suits my mood that day & so I don’t have a particular go-to shopping outfit.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Probably shoes, I have many. I think I have over 70’s pairs now & I just can’t stop. I use to be worse, I use to buy 2 pairs of shoes a week but I have calmed down since then. I also love buying jewellery, the more unique & unusual the better. I have an obsession with buying nail polish too, I must have about 60 bottles – oops!

What is the one piece of clothing you can’t live without?

If I lived in a hot climate then I would say one of my maxi dresses but I live in the UK, for that reason it would have to be my leather jacket. I bought it from Miss Selfridge about 3 years ago & I wear it all the time. It is so easy to style & works with so much of my wardrobe.

Who is your style icon?

I have a few but my main one is Gwen Stefani. I have loved her since I was little & I have always adored her style. She is so unique & I love her label LAMB. I bought from LAMB heels about 3 years ago & I love them. She really seems comfortable with who she is & wears her clothes with confidence. She doesn’t seem like your main stream celeb, like Kim Kardashian who never experiments with her style & for that reason she bores me. Gwen always looks so effortless in what she wears & I think her 2 little boys have picked up their mums style!

I also love Daphne Guinness because she is totally out there & unique. Angelina Jolie is a big influence too because she makes all black outfits so interesting & seems to have a love of maxi’s like me!

Well, that is it! I hope you enjoyed my answers & I hope you will join in too!

Here is who I would like to tag;

  1. Oh, to be young again, you totally look great in your free spirit look. For me, age appropriate is key so I tend to be into a more late 50’s refined style without looking to done up. Casual for shopping, usually in a skirt….pumps and jewelry are my pleasure..looking for a cute ankle bracelet. I just can’t live without silk blouses, except in winter, then mock turtleneck. My style icon has to be Faith Hill, classy, clean, and subdued in a classy way. So many ways to look at the way you present yourself, it’s helpful to think about how others perceive yourself. I see so many ladies who could be fabulous it they thought about emulating a specific look! Nice post Kate! I’m off to find your shoe collection post!!!!

    1. Thanks Candy. I totally agree with you & I love anklet bracelets, I bought quite a few last Summer. I love Faith Hill’s style too, she is such a stunning lady! 🙂
